Comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

The resolution “Conflict in Georgia”, prepared by Georgia delegation, has been approved at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that took place on July 5 in Tbilisi.

The content of the document isn’t original and attempts to understand the situation created as a result of Georgian aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008 still doesn’t have anything in common with the existing reality. And that is understandable if we take into consideration the fact that the document was compelled by the same speaker of Georgian Parliament who had recently claimed that the mission of Georgian army would not be completed until the mythical “territorial integrity of Georgia” is rebuilt.

Other thing is surprising: it’s obvious that political authorities of the OSCE member states voting in favor of accepting such documents do not realize their responsibility in true indulgency of Georgian revanchist aspirations in relation to South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

We have to remind of the fact that the OSCE hasn’t still given assessment neither to the August campaign of 2008 nor to its own mission operating in Georgia at that time which failed accomplishing its mandate.

Unfortunately we have to note that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, recognizing the Geneva discussions as the unique possibility of discussing security and humanitarian issues, accepted at the suggestion of Georgia a politically committed resolution which in no way promotes negotiations within the Geneva format.
