Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia

On 20 May, 2013 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani stated at the briefing: “One of the main aims of all the visits that are carried out by MFA and Government of Georgia is non-recognition and we never stopped our efforts in this direction”.

After recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Georgia is afraid of each and every country that could become part of the inconvertible process of recognition of these two newly created countries. Being afraid of another recognition and trying to prevent it, Georgia is making every effort, to the extent of bribing leaders of counties that could recognize South Ossetia. Thus, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili at the press-conference on 21 May stated that if he were to have money, especially billions, the issue of recognition would have been closed”.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia expresses its regrets that instead of recognition of the existing realities and their inconvertibility, Government of Georgia is spending money of its taxpayers on shady political deals rather than on solving internal problems.

Despite that fact that Georgia makes difficulties for further recognition and participation in International Organizations, the world will soon here about new countries that recognized independence of Republic of South Ossetia and this process will continue.
