Republic of South Ossetia is located оn the southern slopes of the Main Caucasus Range in the area of 3900 square meters. Тhe capital is the city of Tskhinval.

South Ossetia party, headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, is participating in the 38th round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia that is taking place on December 13-14, 2016.


December 13 saw bilateral consultations between South Ossetia party and representatives of international organizations and trilateral consultations between delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

During the main working day of the Discussions (December 14, 2016) members of Working group I proceeded their work on a joint statement on commitment to the principle of non-use of force. Discussion of issues relevant to security situation in the region is expected later.

Humanitarian issues, including problems of search of missing citizens and preservation of Ossetian cultural heritage on territory of Georgia, are discussed in Working group II.
