Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, hosted a meeting with Alan Elbakiev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of South Ossetia, on March 5, 2018.


The parties exchanged opinion on current level of South Ossetian-Abkhazian relations and discussed issues, related to the bilateral cooperation.

The Minister marked the positive development of interstate relations between South Ossetia and Abkhazia and the high level of trust established between Presidents Anatolii Bibilov and Raul Khadzhimba.

Alongside with this Dmitrii Medoev told about the recent visit to the Republic of Nauru, where he and the Abkhazian Foreign Minister Daur Kove participated in the festivities, dedicated to the 50th Independence Day of Nauru.

In his turn Alan Elbakiev informed the Minister about the forthcoming jubilee dates in Abkhazia – the 25th Anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, the 10th Anniversary of Recognition of Independence and Establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the Russian Federation and the 25th Anniversary of the Victory of the People of Abkhazia in the Patriotic War of 1992-1993.

In his turn Minister Medoev added that South Ossetia is preparing for August 26 and September 9, when the 10th Anniversary of the Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the 10th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations would be celebrated. Alongside with this the Minister emphasized that the 10th anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia would be celebrated in August 2018.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
