The Representative of South Ossetia informed the Minister about the activity, conducted in the Far East. In his turn the Minister set the priority tasks, which would promote more effective cooperation of South Ossetia with Vladivostok and the Far East Federal District in general.
On the same day the Minister met with activists of the Ossetian community of the Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation. The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.

During the negotiations the parties discussed the perspectives of bilateral cooperation between Tskhinval and Vladivostok in different areas, the possibilities of implementation of joint humanitarian projects including those for the youth. Special attention was drawn to interaction in sphere of culture and cultural exchanges. This, in particular, was related to organizing exhibitions, concerts and other events.

The Memorandum of understanding on cooperation and interaction on international relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Nauru and the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Government of Republic of Nauru on waiver of visa requirements for mutual visits of nationals of the two countries were signed by Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Baron Divavesi Waqa, the President of the Republic of Nauru.

Possibility of implementing the bilateral Russian-Georgian agreement on customs administration and monitoring of trade in goods signed in November 2011 has again become widely discussed in media recently.

During the meeting Dmitrii Medoev expressed gratitude to Cyril Buraman for the invitation to visit the Parliament of the Republic of Nauru and thanked the authorities of Nauru for organizing the official visit to the Republic on such an important day. The Minister emphasized the warm welcome extended to the South Ossetian delegation during its stay in Nauru, noted the high level of organization and the accurate and coordinated work of all agencies, responsible for protocol and events. As it was emphasized by Dmitrii Medoev, in South Ossetia they are grateful for the Act of Recognition of the Independence of South Ossetia by the Government of Nauru, dated December 16, 2009.

January 31, 2017 saw a meeting of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitrii Medoev with His Excellency Peter M. Christian, the President of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Official events started with the ceremony of raising the National Flag, accompanied by the National Anthem of the Republic of Nauru, performed by the church choir at the square in front of the Government House.
The President of Nauru Baron Waqa addressed the attendees with a congratulatory speech, followed by a parade of the police units and other special units of the Republic, as well as citizens of Nauru, employees of government agencies, pupils, sportsmen and representatives of tribes, inhabiting the island.
