Comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia
Unfortunately, this is another time when we have to note aspirations of western colleagues to invalidate the right of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia to determine themselves the destiny of their country in favor of Georgian groundless ambitions and claims for foreign territories. It appears that instead of being driven by security interests in the region, those in the West consistently prefer to use baseless “political clichés” invented by Georgian authorities that contrast sharply with real state of affairs.
We consider such statements undercut the right of South Ossetia people for democratic development and free expression of will as political outrage and interference into internal affairs of a sovereign state.
Throughout its history, the Republic of South Ossetia which is celebrating the Day of the Constitution, adopted at referendum hold on April 8, 2001, has always been demonstrating unexceptionable devotion to principles of democratic constitution of a state.
We are convinced that tomorrow, on April 9, the international community will once again become witness of free and democratic declaration of will of people of South Ossetia.
