Video conference of Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, broadcasted in Tskhinval, Moscow and Sukhum, was organized in the press center of Sputnik South Ossetia in anticipation of the 9th Anniversary of the Recognition of the Independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia on August 25.


Minister Medoev congratulated everyone with the coming holiday and emphasized that the fateful for South Ossetian people decision, signing of the Decree on the Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation, became an absolutely legitimate reaction to the barbarous attack of Georgian troops on peaceful Tskhinval and helped to prevent further extirpation of the people of South Ossetia.

The recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation opened a door for free development, extension of international contacts and further recognition of South Ossetia. Independence and sovereignty of the Republic of South Ossetia were recognized not only by the Russian Federation, but also by a range of other states which are authoritative and full-fledged members of international community. The work in this direction will continue.

A big work on establishment of full-scale interstate relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation has been done for the last nine years. And today further development and deepening of friendly relations with the Russian Federation is the priority direction of the foreign policy of the Republic of South Ossetia.
