Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, hosted a meeting with Vyacheslav Bitarov, the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, heading the delegation of North Ossetia, which arrived in Tskhinval on the occasion of the festivities, dedicated to the Day of the Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, on August 26, 2017.


Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, participated in the meeting.

The President welcomed the guests and marked that August 26 is a holiday for the whole Ossetian nation.

“Today we are celebrating a common holiday with our brothers from North Ossetia, who have actively been participating in the struggle for the independence of South Ossetia throughout so many years”, noted the President.

Sincere thanks went to the Russian Federation.

“I would like to express special gratitude to the Russian Federation, the authorities and the people of Russia for salvation of the Ossetian people from extirpation. We know about the facts when elderly people sold their houses and sent the funds received to South Ossetia”, said Anatoliy Bibilov.

In his turn Vyacheslav Bitarov, the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, marked that the decision on the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia, taken by Russia nine years ago, became a fateful decision for the Republic.

“For the time being thanks to the Russian Federation the Republic is developing and the living standards have increased”, stated Vyacheslav Bitarov.

North Ossetian leader wished South Ossetia further development and prosperity.
