October 23, 2017 saw the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitriy Medoev arriving on a short-term visit to Catalonia.

Minister Medoev met with compatriots in Catalonia, who despite the distance stay in touch with their Motherland, are interested in the affairs happening there and strive for making contribution to spreading the truth in West about the events in South Ossetia.

As Dmitriy Medoev marked, the Catalan events, which have grabbed the attention of the world, are of great interest for South Ossetia, because twenty six years ago the people of South Ossetia themselves made the same fateful political step on the way to their own statehood.

The meeting with representatives of the Ossetian community took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

A representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Catalonia was opened on the same day in Barcelona. The Office would promote establishment of bilateral ties, firstly in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
