January 31, 2017 saw Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, participating in the solemnities, dedicated to the 50th Independence Day of the Republic of Nauru.


Official events started with the ceremony of raising the National Flag, accompanied by the National Anthem of the Republic of Nauru, performed by the church choir at the square in front of the Government House.

The President of Nauru Baron Waqa addressed the attendees with a congratulatory speech, followed by a parade of the police units and other special units of the Republic, as well as citizens of Nauru, employees of government agencies, pupils, sportsmen and representatives of tribes, inhabiting the island.

On behalf of Baron Waqa, the President of Nauru, an official reception was organized in the evening on the occasion of the holiday.

The celebrations were followed by fireworks and public festivals.
