In framework of the official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic the South Ossetian delegation, headed by President Anatolii Bibilov, met with representatives of the Government and the Parliament of Syria on July 25.

The parties discussed terms of the bilateral cooperation in various focus areas, issues of development and strengthening inter parliamentary ties between the two Republics, and exchanged opinion on certain aspects of mutual interest, related to regional and international politics.

On the same day Gennadii Kokoev, the South Ossetian Minister of Economic Development, and Samer al-Khalil, the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, signed intergovernmental agreements on trade and economic cooperation and on establishment of a joint committee on trade, economic, science and technological cooperation.

The agreements would allow creating a full-fledged legal framework for mutually beneficial cooperation and would promote further development of the South Ossetian - Syrian interaction in various spheres.

Apart from that, in order to promote development of cooperation between Parliamentary parties, an agreement was signed by Edinaya Ossetia Party of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Arab Socialist Renaissance Party (the Ba’th Party).
