In framework of the visit to the Republic of Abkhazia a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitrii Medoev with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Daur Kove was held on October 3.


Oleg Botsiev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia, and Vissarion Aplia, the Head of the Abkhaz Orthodox Church, participated in the meeting as well.

Dmitrii Medoev congratulated Daur Kove and the stuff of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry with the Day of Victory and Independence and expressed gratitude for invitation and warm welcome.

The South Ossetian Minister noted the traditionally friendly relations between South Ossetia and Abkhazia that to a great extent is due to coincidence of interests and familiarity of the positions of the states.

In his turn Daur Kove thanked Dmitrii Medoev for the visit and marked the significance of further strengthening of relations between the fraternal nations and states.

Discussion on the agenda of the forthcoming round of the Geneva discussions was held as well. The parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of interaction between foreign policy departments of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and expressed hope for its further development.

Dmitrii Medoev honored Daur Kove with the medal of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry “For Contribution to International Cooperation”.

For great contribution to the development of the bilateral relations Vissarion Aplia, the Head of the Abkhaz Orthodox Church, was decorated with the medal as well.
