Republic of South Ossetia is located оn the southern slopes of the Main Caucasus Range in the area of 3900 square meters. Тhe capital is the city of Tskhinval.
One-tenth of the surface occupied by the Republic of the foothills.
The rest of the territory - the mountainous terrain height from 850 to 3938 meters above sea level.
The highest point - Mount Halatsa (3938 m).

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia

Agreement on acceptation of Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol into Russian Federation and creation of new subjects within Russian Federation was signed today in Moscow.


South Ossetia welcomes decision on unification of Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russian Federation. This event brought into life realization of the right of self determination of multinational Crimea is a triumph of historic fairness and supremacy of law.

Hope that this landmark event will strengthen ethics and basic values that were degraded during the last few decades by double standards applied to different countries.
Unification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russian Federation will facilitate stabilization and security in the Black Sea region and will be an impulse to development of new subjects of Russian Federation and improvement of wellbeing of the population.
