September 10, 2009 saw the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela recognizing the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia that became an important political event in political life of our young Republic. Venezuela is the third country that followed the example of Russia and Nicaragua and made such a responsible and significant for us decision despite the difficulties the country was facing at that time. People of South Ossetia will always be thankful to the Venezuelan party for that.

Diplomatic ties are established between our countries, state visit to Venezuela was organized.

South Ossetia people carefully follow the events in friendly Republic. We support efforts made by the authorities of the country in solution of social and economic problems that are results of economic challenges Venezuela has been facing and wish speedy stabilization of the situation.

The two Republics are keen to strengthen friendly relations established seven years ago.

As you know, upon the invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs official delegation of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, headed by Alvaro Enrique Sanchez Cordero, temporary charge d'affaires, visited the Republic of South Ossetia in July 2016.

Possibilities of further interaction between the states in various spheres, further development of the contractual legal framework of the bilateral relations were discussed during the visit.

August 10, 2016 saw Narim Kozaev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, handing over credentials to Nicolas Moros Maduro, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in Karakas.

On the occasion of the 7th Anniversary of recognition of South Ossetia’s Independence by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Murat Dzhioev, South Ossetia Foreign Minister, sent a congratulatory message to Delcy Rodriguez Gómez, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.
