Murat Dzhioev, South Ossetia Foreign Minister and the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, heading South Ossetia delegation at the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, hosted a meeting with the Co-Chairs of the Discussions representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN, who arrived to the Republic on November 22 in anticipation of the coming 38th round of the Discussions.

The agenda of the round scheduled for December 13-14, 2016 was discussed during the meeting.

In connection with the increased number of state border violations, which at different international stages Georgian party tries to misrepresent as human rights abuse, the current security situation in South Ossetia regions about South Ossetia-Georgia border was discussed in detail.

South Ossetia party emphasized that fact didn’t correspond with the reality and was only the result of Georgian unwillingness to conduct an outreach work among residents of Georgian territories located nearby the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, to inform them about the line of the boundary and to get to joint work on the frontier delimitation.

The parties appreciated results of the IPRM meetings promoting solution of border incidents.

According to South Ossetia party, with the background of NATO enlargement in Georgia, conclusion of a legally binding document on non-use of force by Georgia, which would have strong international warranties, becomes especially important.

As a basis for development of such a document South Ossetia party once again proposed making a joint statement on commitment to the principle of non-use of force.

Special attention was drawn to humanitarian issues and especially to problems of missing South Ossetia citizens’ search, cultural heritage, human rights execution and eliminating barriers for South Ossetia citizens’ international contacts.

South Ossetia delegation reiterated its stand about the impossibility of discussing refugees’ issues until Georgia brings them to international stages where South Ossetia is not presented. This fact undermines the possibility of discussing the issue in framework of the Geneva discussions.

Upon the meeting the Co-Chairs answered questions of IA representatives.
