Comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

March 20 saw the parliamentary delegation of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) accompanied by the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality visiting Khurvaleti, a Georgian settlement located at the border with the Republic of South Ossetia.

Obviously, similar ritual excursions organized for foreign delegations are considered in Georgia as necessary and invariable acts of a peculiar performance where Georgia as an innocent victim performs traditional monologues about the fictitious “occupied regions” and the lost “territorial integrity” – the concepts which have never had anything in common with reality.

We are sure that sooner or later questions about when, how and why did the state border between Georgia and South Ossetia appear, would rise in heads of “tourists”. Moreover, we are ready to promote this enlightenment in every way and give interested persons the opportunity to get acquainted with modern history and true current situation and to observe the frontier with Georgia from territory of South Ossetia.

For the time being the reality consists in operation of the law of Georgia on Occupied Territories that bans foreign citizens entering South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and in unavailability of Georgian authorities to cooperation in delimitation and demarcation of the frontier which they show to foreigners with so much pleasure.
