His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia hosted in his residence a meeting with Anatolii Bibiliv, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, on January 12, 2018.


During the meeting the parties discussed general issues of mutual interest related to Christianity.

The South Ossetian President thanked His Holiness for the audience and congratulated the Patriarch with Christmas, having noted the special role of Orthodoxy in the history and modern life of the people of South Ossetia. The President emphasized that the priority role of Orthodoxy in South Ossetia is stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic.

In conclusion of the official visit to the Republic of Srpska and Belgrade Anatolii Bibilov, the South Ossetian President, and members of the South Ossetian delegation visited the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade on January 12, 2018.


Father Stefan, the Beneficiary of the Church, told the guests about the history of construction and reconstruction of the main sanctuary of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The Church of Saint Sava is one of the biggest Orthodox cathedrals in the Europe, which impresses with its grandeur and scale. The Church of Saint Sava in Vracar plateau stands on the same place where the Ottoman Turks enslaving Serbian lands barbarously burned the relics of the greatest saint and the first Archbishop of Serbia.

Later the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia visited the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade – the Church of Holy Trinity.

On January 11 in the White Palace, the residence of Serbian royal dynasty, Crown Prince Alexander II Karadjordjevic and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a meeting with the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatolii Bibilov.


The President thanked the royal couple for hospitality and warm reception, told about certain aspects of the Ossetian history, which is inextricably bound up with the history of Russia and Russian people, and assured of the inviolability of the historic alliance between Ossetia and Russia.

Appointment of the Representative of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Republic of Srpska will promote, first of all, development of bilateral cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres.

January 11, 2018 saw a meeting of Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, with Ljubisa Cosic, Head of East Sarajevo municipality.


During the meeting the parties discussed issues of development of friendly relations and ways of cooperation between Tskhinval and East Sarajevo, in particular in spheres of education and culture. The parties expressed readiness to promote establishment and strengthening of inter-municipal cooperation.

Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, and members of the South Ossetian delegation laid a wreath to the monument “Twelve Stars”, located in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Banja Luka on January 10, 2018.


The monument was raised in commemoration of the 12 children who died because of the lack of oxygen in the intensive care unit of the maternity hospital of Banja Luka in 1992 and reminds of the newborns who were cut off lives.

In framework of the official visit to the Republic of Srpska a meeting of Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republic of Srpska, and Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, took place on January 10, 2018.


The parties discussed the perspectives of development of the bilateral cooperation in general and interaction in cultural and humanitarian spheres in particular. The Presidents exchanged opinion on current international problems and talked about certain issues of mutual interest.

Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, heading the South Ossetian delegation, participated in the festive events, dedicated to the 26th Anniversary of the Republic of Srpska on January 26, 2018.


The official program of celebrations began with the laying of a wreath at the memorial to the Serbs who died in the Bosnian Wars in 1990-s.

On the occasion of the holiday a traditional military parade was held at the Square of Krajina.
