Joint statement of South Ossetian and Abkhazian delegations on the Geneva International Discussions

The UN General Assembly has been accepting draft resolution on refugees and displaced persons from South Ossetia and Abkhazia prepared by Georgian party for several years already. Delivering again and again the same writing of the document Georgia tries to impose on international community a unilateral politicized corrupt vision of the problem of refugees to support their non-legitimate territorial claims.

Every year since 2009 Georgia submits a draft resolution on refugees and displaced persons from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to the UN General Assembly. The text of the resolution that is being imposed on the international community is silent on the fact that the emergence of such refugees and displaced persons is directly linked to Georgia's wars against South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Noble Partner 2016, the second large-scale NATO military exercises hold in Georgia, opened on May 11, 2016. The declared purpose of the trainings was increasing the level of cooperation and interaction between Georgia and NATO for further participation of Georgian army in joint military campaigns.

Pertaining to tens situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict area

The Republic of South Ossetia expresses serious concern over the ceasefire regime violation and marked aggravation of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict area. Particular concern is caused by reports on heavy weapons and military aircraft used by the parties. Military operation launched by the national Army of Azerbaijan against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Army resulted in numerous victims including civilians.

Pertaining to Venezuela parliamentary elections results

National Assembly elections were held in Venezuela on December, 6.


The elections passed in accordance with the acting legislation and constitutional norms. Nicolas Maduro, the President of Venezuela, recognized the results of the elections. According to early results the oppositional block won the majority of seats in the National Assembly.

Official delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia headed by Kazbulat Tskhovrebov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, returning from Tiraspol, where the delegates had participated in ceremonies dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Moldovan Transdniestrian Republic, was detained by representatives of national security of the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau International Airport on September, 3.

Once again the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia declared of transferring South Ossetia-Georgian boundary deeper into Georgian territory while establishing entry-resistant constructions. The planned visit of Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, whom the Georgian party tried to bring to border obviously with provocative purposes is also connected with alleged violation of border by South Ossetia representatives.

The latest draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on refugees and displaced people that was presented by Georgia in June, 2015 and was similar to the previous one approved by the UN GA, refers to exercising the right of all internally displaced people, refugees and their descendants to return to “their homes located on whole territory of Georgia, including Abkhazia and South Ossetia”.

Pertaining to the resolution on refugees supported by the United Nations General Assembly

Georgian draft resolution on problem of displaced persons and refugees from South Ossetia and Abkhazia was supported for the 7th time by the United Nations General Assembly on June 3, 2015. 75 countries voted “for” and 16 countries voted “against” adopting the resolution. It is good that the number of countries opposing the writing of the document grew for 3 units.

Concern on human rights protecting system in the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia was marked in the quarterly report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and expressed by Ivica Dacic, the Foreign Minister of Serbia. As it was stated, “fully functioning OSCE mission should be returned to the Republics and access to the territories should be provided for international observers”.
